The county's own gathering place is the Franklin County Senior Center at 75 Messenger Street in St.
Albans.
It opened in 1967 and later moved into the former Messenger Street primary school, which the St.
Albans school board deeded to it; its membership has passed 400.
The center serves community meals for a suggested donation of $8, with reservations required at 802-524-6616, alongside foot-care clinics and events.
Age Well also lists it as a venue, including a monthly restaurant-ticket event on the first Monday of each month.
A household new to the area can start at the center, since it is the one place in the county where the meal, the activity program and the staff who know the local services are together.
Getting to appointments without a car
Franklin and Grand Isle counties were served by Green Mountain Transit, and in November 2025 Green Mountain Transit and Rural Community Transportation announced that rural services in both counties would move to Rural Community Transportation, with all current routes, schedules and services continuing and co-branding during the changeover.
